Last Week Recap
BTC declined toward the end of the week after failing to hold above the $65,000 level. Although U.S. economic data, particularly inflation and PPI, came in a direction that reduced interest-rate pressure, Bitcoin did not see a clear rebound in buying interest as the market remained concerned about liquidity conditions and institutional selling pressure.
Meanwhile, Spot Bitcoin ETF flows turned negative for two consecutive days, with total outflows of approximately $192 million, indicating that institutional buying momentum had started to weaken. In addition, Strategy continued selling Bitcoin for the fourth consecutive week, selling approximately 1,690 BTC worth around $108.6 million, adding further short-term pressure to BTC.
By the end of the week, BTC was trading around $62,800–63,300, with the overall market remaining in a consolidation phase after failing to break above the key $65,000 resistance.
Fundamental Analysis | 17–21 AUG 2026
BTC is expected to trade Sideway to Bearish in the short term, with the market continuing to focus on the Fed's monetary policy outlook and the FOMC Minutes on August 19. If the Minutes signal a Dovish stance and increase expectations for rate cuts, this could reduce pressure from Bond Yields and support risk assets such as Bitcoin.
However, Bitcoin continues to face pressure from ETF Flows. If Spot Bitcoin ETFs continue to experience outflows, this would indicate weakening institutional demand and limit BTC's recovery potential. On the other hand, a sustained return of inflows would be a positive signal and increase the possibility of BTC retesting $65,000.
In addition, investors should closely monitor the DXY, U.S. Treasury Yields, and Risk Sentiment, as Bitcoin remains sensitive to liquidity conditions and demand for risk assets. A decline in the Dollar and Bond Yields, combined with a return to Risk-On sentiment, would support Bitcoin. Conversely, rising Yields and a shift toward Risk-Off sentiment could trigger additional selling pressure.
Overall, BTC maintains a negative short-term bias and is likely to trade within a Sideway to Bearish range. The key factors to monitor are FOMC Minutes, ETF Flows, DXY, and Bond Yields. If BTC remains unable to reclaim $65,000, further profit-taking and consolidation could follow.
Technical Analysis — BTCUSD 4H
BTCUSD remains Sideway to Bearish, with the price trading below the EMA and the resistance zone around 63,200–63,500. The short-term structure remains under selling pressure. If the price fails to reclaim this resistance zone, BTC could pull back to test 62,470, and a break below this support could lead to further downside toward the 62,207 target.
On the other hand, if BTC can break out above 63,500, it would help reduce the current bearish pressure and could open the way for a recovery toward the next resistance level.
Bias: Sideway to Bearish
Resistance: 63,500 / 63,200
Support: 62,470 / 62,207
Target: 62,207
Cut Loss: Above 63,500
